How to verify a credit
Anyone can check a Climate Standard credit, without an account: on this page, from the QR code of a certificate, or by machine through the public API.
1. Look up the serial number
The serial number is on the certificate and in the movement that transferred or retired the credit. Enter it to open the credit: project, status, current holder and the movements that concern it.
2. Compare the certificate with the registry
Every certificate (issuance, transfer, retirement) has a QR code and a link to its movement in this registry. Open it and compare quantity, date, project and serial numbers: a certificate that does not match the registry is not valid. Only a retirement certificate allows claiming the removal or reduction.
3. Verify by machine
The public API answers in JSON, without a key, with the same data as these pages. Assistants that support MCP can use the server https://registry.climatestandard.net/api/mcp.
curl https://registry.climatestandard.net/api/v1/credits/CS-…API contract (OpenAPI)
4. Check that the ledger has not been altered
Every day the registry seals its movements in a chain of SHA-256 fingerprints. /api/v1/integrity re-verifies the whole chain, and the lines of each day are public so that anyone can recompute the fingerprint.
